Remember a few years back when the killer clown epidemic swept across America? One of those at the centre of the saga was Wrinkles the Clown, a character created by an unidentified performance artist living in Naples, Florida.
Depending on how much of a horror junkie you are, you may or may not be pleased to know that a documentary on the elusive figure has just been released in the US, although it is still awaiting a UK release date. And let's just say, it makes IT Chapter Two look like My Little Pony.
You've probably already heard of Wrinkles, having first made online fame after a grainy black-and-white video showing him emerge from underneath a child's bed went viral.
The video itself is pure nightmare fuel, and only went on to creep out locals in Naples even more when they started spotting Wrinkles IRL across the city.Meanwhile, hundreds of posters and stickers with his ghoulish face and phone number were posted around, with the documentary proving that you can still hire him to freak out your kids if they are misbehaving.
Wrinkles doesn't just get requests to scare children though, as he's been inundated with messages from women and goths. The anonymous performer behind Wrinkles told NBC 2: "I've got women calling me all the time. Young ones, too, like weird goths with chains and stuff.
"I've had enough psycho women in my life already. That's why I'm divorced. I just want to have fun... Have a good time, make a little extra money on the side. Have a little fun before I die."
Which consists of a red polkadot onesie and a mask with blacked-out eyes and rough red lips.
As is shown in the documentary trailer - and as you'd expect from someone who spends their free time scaring the living daylights out of kids - not all of the feedback is positive.
"You're scaring little people that can't defend themselves," shouts one man down the phone, while another says, "I'll take this baseball bat and beat your brains in." Yikes.
Nonetheless, it would appear Wrinkles is keeping his gig up, and has somehow managed to maintain anonymity - although the film sets to uncover some of the mysteries about the man behind the clown mask.
Wrinkles the Clown was released on 4 October 2019 in the US, with filmmaker Michael Beach Nichols insisting that the main character isn't a work of fiction.
He said: "I think that a big part of the primal fear of clowns comes from their traditional access to our children. Here's a stranger, usually a man, wearing brightly coloured face paint to conceal his identity.
"We don't truly know who this person is or what his motivations are. In terms of Hollywood, I feel like there's something incredibly intriguing and rich about the light/dark duality that exists or that might exist in every clown."
One of America's most twisted murderers, Gacy was a rapist and torturer convicted of killing 66 teenage boys and young men and the locals reported this happens in every 33 Years , we have grown up listening the stories of our Grand parents seeing a clown with three eyes .The real-life killer clown, whose story is far more chilling than any horror film, would lure his young victims to his home in Norwood Park, Illinois.
Once he had them there, the killer would trick them in to putting on handcuffs, leaving them defenceless against the predator's torture and sexual attacks.Dubbed the "Killer Clown", Gacy's six-year reign of terror was marked by unimaginable cruelty and relentless abuse.
All his victims were strangled or choked - bar his first, who he stabbed - before their bodies were bundled into his home's crawl space, buried on his property or dumped in the local Des Plaines River and bodies had a arm missing or a leg missing .But the whole time, Gacy was living a double life, presenting himself as an upstanding member of the local community and doing charity work in character as "Pogo the Clown".
Born on March 17, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois, Gacy suffered severe childhood abuse at the hands of his alcoholic father.The killer went on to find success as a businessman, managing three KFC restaurants before starting his own construction firm.Gacy's first marriage, to Marlynn Myers, saw him father a son and a daughter, but she divorced him after he was convicted of sexually abusing a 16-year-old in 1968.It was after Gacy's release on parole, in 1970, when he started his own business and threw himself into his community, marrying divorcee Carole Hoff in 1972.
In his free time, Gacy would don his clown costume and pretend he was Pogo, a chirpy clown who helped the murderer "regress into childhood".
A keen Democrat, Gacy served on a local organising committee, even meeting First Lady Rosalynn Carter through his community work on May 6, 1978.
But nobody had any idea that the sick man beneath the clown mask was a sadistic killer responsible for a spate of disappearances in the area.
Gacy deceived many of his victims by telling them he needed their help with "scientific research", for which he would pay them up to $50 each.
After luring the boys to his house, through lies or at gunpoint, Gacy would then ply them with alcohol and trick them into putting on handcuffs, occasionally as part of his clown routine.
Then, once they were defenceless, Gacy would torment his teenager victims, before raping them and finishing with what he called "the rope trick": strangling the boys with a length of rope and eating their body parts .
Gacy's second marriage collapsed after wife Carole started finding gay pornography in the house and saw her bisexual husband bringing teenage boys into his garage.The pair divorced in March 1976, starting what Gacy called his "cruising years".With the house to himself and no more questions to answer from his wife, Gacy started killing more frequently, committing most murders in the year 1989 compared to the other killings which occurs in every 33 years .The vile murderer was only caught out in December 1978, after a pharmacy owner heard him offering a 15-year-old employee Robert Jerome Piest a lucrative job working with him.
Piest had told his mother about the offer before he went missing, ending up in the Des Plaines river after being suffocated and eating his chest and internal organs while he was tied up alive .Gacy was born into a blue-collar family and seems to have had a fairly ordinary childhood. But he exhibited a growing tendency toward sadism, which resulted in several encounters with the law in the 1960s.
In 1968, after his conviction for sexually assaulting a teenage boy, he was confined in the Iowa State Men’s Reformatory (Anamosa State Penitentiary) and forced to undergo psychological evaluation. After his release in 1970 and while still on parole, he was again arrested for sexual assault, but the charges were later dropped.
Gacy then became a fairly successful independent contractor and bought a house in suburban Chicago.The pharmacy owner led police to Gacy, starting an investigation which eventually saw the killer clown break down and confess to his vile crimes, leading to his arrest on December 22, 1978. In 1978, after one of Gacy’s victims, Robert Piest, was reported missing, police learned that Gacy was the last person known to have seen him. After obtaining a search warrant, police discovered the bodies of 59 boys and young men in or near Gacy’s house; four other bodies were found in the nearby Des Plaines River.
Indeed, the area of the house had emitted a foul stench for years, but Gacy had told his houseguests and his wife that the smell was the result of moisture buildup. At his trial Gacy’s plea of innocent by reason of insanity was supported by the testimony of several psychologists, who diagnosed him as schizophrenic, but was rejected by the jury,When Gacy was captured and locked up in the jail , on the first night he refused to take dinner and said ,”I would like to eat my leg tonight ” and on the morning it was found that he wasn’t lying . He ate his leg from finger to the thighs and even swallowed the bone and he died on the morning .
Although , doctors were never able to find his age and blood group . Senior locals said They never die , in the upcoming 33 years there will be another clown like him or maybe him .
However, not all of his victims have been identified .
